Apathy – Eastern Philosophy [2LP Clear Purple Vinyl]

When Eastern Philosophy dropped in 2006 itmarked a defining Im here moment forApathy. Years spent with the Demigodzcollecting props and connecting dotssharpened his skills and set the stage for analbum that remains a masterclass in Hip Hopcraftsmanship.Already respected for his alien-tonguedlyricism pop-culture flair and penchant forblunt-edged Boom Bap Apathy delivered amosaic of chest-thumping bravado wittyintellect and real-in-the-feel vulnerabilitycementing Eastern Philosophy as a trueunderground classic. He parallel parks on therambunctious knock of the title track warningof the danger that comes when the East is inthe house. On The Buck Stops Here heflexes concept and storytelling as he tracesthe journey of a dollar bill through severalspots from a strippers underwear to a churchcollection plate. The album closes with TheWinter where Apathys zero-below flowpaints a stark mis-en-scene colder than theFortress of Solitude. To mark its twentieth anniversary Eastern Philosophy returns ina form worthy of its legacy.
